David hired me as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant back in 2005. I did not have a degree, though he spotted something that he thought he could train and develop. I went on to bill over £250k in my final year at Sand Resources before moving on to work abroad. We then partnered again when David was launching Korus and he mentored me in my first Managing Director role. Most of the original team of trainees I worked with at Sand, all went on to do great things in recruitment after David’s training and mentoring; with some becoming super billers (£750k +), some Divisional Directors of AIM listed recruitment business and others as Sales Managers or Account Directors. David has a keen eye for spotting and developing talent. I am sure Zing will be responsible for supplying the next generation of Trainee Consultants to many a successful recruitment business.

      I was MD and joint founder of Sand Resources Ltd, a £30m revenue, specialist IT recruitment firm, focusing on contract recruitment and senior interim management. The company achieved rapid growth from the outset, exceeding £1m turnover in its first year and went on to be ranked in 2004, as one of the UK's fastest growing privately owned firms, according to a survey published in Real Business magazine. Under my direction, the company developed a public sector focused division in 2002 and in 2003, Sand was awarded the first of several framework agreements with S-Cat, a supplier restricted and pre-approved Government procurement model operated by The Office of Government Commerce (OGC), later renamed Catalist. This established a significant opportunity to supply Public Sector Organisations throughout the UK and the business established itself as one of the prime suppliers of contract staff in this sector. Over a 2 year period, I groomed this business for acquisition and Sand Resources was acquired by an AIM listed plc in 2006. The business now operates under the IQ Public Sector brand name. Show less
