Currently employed as an Advanced Nurse Consultant, Band 8C, in Secondary Mental Health Care Services in the National Health Service (NHS). I work with adults who have complex mental health problems, patients with mental health and learning disabilities, and also patients with substance misuse problems.My job plan includes asesssing and treating patients on the Acute assements ward,leading the care of Recovery patients in a specialist rehab facility and an Adult ADHD clinic weekly. I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse, a Registered Independent Prescriber and a Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). I am a qualified EMDR Therapist and SPSI therapist . I have been qualified as a nurse for over 30 years and has worked in the NHS throughout my career, in different in-patient and community settings. I work with people who have a whole range of complex mental health issues, (e.g. Psychosis, Bipolar-Affective Disorder, Personality Disorder, Severe Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Recent commisioning experience having been the specialist commisioner for the PCT and overseeing opening a purpose build 16 bedded ward on time on budget and returning a high standard of care. Over 20 years experience specialising in suicide,para-suicide and self harm in A&e,crisis and liaison teams.

Advanced nurse Practitioner acute mental health

Spent two years undertaking a full time Masters degree in advanced practice at Hull University alongside clinical attachments in Learning disability,substance misuse,older people and acute mental health placements.Studied seperate "master classes" in examination of patients including,chest,abdomen,G.I tract and eyes nose and throat to enable the physical examination,assessment and treatment of a wide range of clinical conditions.Finished with a 9 month ward placement delivering care and treatment to a wide range of conditions under the supervision of a consultant Psychiatrist.
