Academic Specialist
-
Jun 2016 - Jun 2018
As academic specialist, I design and implement reading, writing, and technology based professional development sessions for the Alliance Academy staff to improve school reading & ELA performance. I also work one-on-one with reading teachers in the building, providing insight and feedback regarding lesson planning and implementation. I organize school based events and programs during the standard school year like "National No Name Calling Week" which is an annual anti-bullying campaign sponsored by GLSEN. I also coordinate with local Cincinnati Theatrical organizations to to bring performances to Alliance Academy, and seek out opportunities to bring new resources, materials, and connections to our school. I also plan and run Alliance Academy's "Super Summer School" program, which focuses on summer reading and math skill building, designed around a yearly theme. Each year's program culminates with the creation of a new educational resource, installation, or display for our campus like The Alliance Academy Butterfly Science Garden, a nationally registered monarch butterfly way-station.
