Responsibilities included auditing work done by PG&E contractors along their power lines. Duties included the following: checking the work of tree inspectors to ensure that all trees that will not hold compliance/conformance are listed for work, and listed appropriately, and to identify any trees that need to be worked on but were not listed. Secondly, ensure that tree crews have followed instructions, and adhered to ANSI standards while trimming/removing trees. In addition there were several other smaller audits I did every month, which included special vegetation projects, checking equipment on power poles, and checking vegetation around nonexempt equipment, and several types of audits involving NERC transmission lines. Once an audit was completed I reported my findings with any recommendations. The job required an efficient use of time which allowed for the management of all responsibilities while maintaining the highest standards. Duties included the following: walking the power lines which required me to hike and maneuver through extreme environments such as the Santa Cruz Mountains, and inspect all trees to determine if they would grow too close to the lines or fail and fall into the lines. These duties required extensive knowledge of trees and their characteristics and the ability to pay attention to detail to the point that a single missed tree would cause a failed audit. Show less
