I'm back at The Windsor for the third time working with a great team who are innovating and committed to excellence. We are getting input into Mission, Vision and Values (words like humility, inclusivity, self belief, sustainability and integrity appear to be gaining traction) and ensuring that after 140 years The Windsor is the most agile customer focused five star brand in Melbourne. Contracted by Gatehouse Hospitality to manage the transition from one management company to another. The three month contract was extended for another three months before the resort owners asked me to continue for a while longer. Great team of people here. Oversaw a complete refurbishment and successful re-positioning of this contemporary 5 star hotel in a market that was growing rapidly. Introduced IDEAS Revenue Management system and operated hotel in a staged way throughout this extensive redevelopment process attracting new global corporate accounts and diplomatic business. Extensive restaurant and banqueting facilities were developed further. Departed with appreciation.... for a move back to former employer. Amazing 800 room property in Marina Square. Launched new Pacific Floors concept as well as Asia's first American Express Floor. Part of a coalition of 5 hotels working with the adjacent convention centre. Significant Restaurant and Banquet business. This was the group's major property in it's stable of 18 hotels and resorts at the time accounting for a third of it's business. Team achieved strongest Rev Par growth of all competing hotels - or as the media release said ....... "in the country" - factually correct. Show less

Fortunate enough to be entrusted with this most successful property as the owners took a year's sabbatical to tour the world getting ideas for what was to become The Lyall - which has proven to be a great success. Forever grateful. Director Marketing & Sales then General Manager in early 1995
-
Nov 1993 - Aug 1998
The hotel was ahead of it's time having been launched extremely well circa 1990 (thanks to Patrick Griffin OAM). The place to be in Melbourne during this period with a great team winning Best Hotel in Victoria awards at state championships in 1994, 1995 and 1996 gaining Hall of Fame Status and Best in Australia at the nationals in 1996 and 1997. Owned by Tan & Tan (Malaysia) and Singapore Government through a corporation. Official Hotel Guide rated the hotel as one of only 107 hotels in their top category, Superior Deluxe, with over 50,000 listed globally. Hotel and development was sold to Mirvac following Asian Economic crisis in early 1998 giving a good ROI to owners. The CEO's influence on me was most positive and for which I shall always be grateful. Amazing team commitment. Show less
