CCAP: A Voice for California’s Charter School AuthorizersCalifornia’s Charter Schools Act (enacted in 1992) gives the authority and obligation to every school district, county board of education, and the State Board of Education to authorize charter schools. Currently, about 337 districts and county offices are overseeing charter schools. California Charter Authorizing Professionals was founded in 2013 by a group of committed and experienced charter school authorizing staff members from around the state to professionalize the field and bring the knowledge of working authorizers into the policy arena. CCAP’s membership is drawn from all over the state, from districts and COEs, both large and small. The range and depth of that collective experience makes CCAP a unique resource for understanding the importance and complexity of charter authorizing. Show less

It is my honor to serve you on the Placer County Board of Education. I have dedicated 35 years to helping families obtain a great education for their children. My focus is high quality education, fiscal responsibility and the best use of your tax dollar. The Placer County Office is a statewide leader in supporting continued improvement of the basics; reading and mathematics instruction. We provide high quality preschool programs. We are leading the growth of career/technical opportunities students in Placer County. We also continue to provide high quality programs for our county’s most at-risk children, those needing intense special education services, homeless and foster youth and those in juvenile hall. We provide these high quality services while also being fiscally responsible. Our budgets are balanced; we have a prudent reserve. We have (no/very little) long term debt. We just built the Seavey Education Center in Rocklin. I am the founder of the Rocklin Academy. I advocated for parental choice, fewer regulations from Sacramento, and supporting excellent teachers. Our family has lived in Rocklin for 22 years. My wife is a math teacher at Rocklin High School. Our three sons are Rocklin High School graduates. Show less
