Collaboration between the Device Realization Lab and the Newman Lab for Biomechanics and Human Rehabilitation under Dr. Brian Anthony and Prof. Neville HoganThesis Title: Measurement of physician hand & patient tissue mechanical impedance- Developed a new feature for an existing medical device, a hand-operated actuated ultrasound probe, that allows it to measure the mechanical impedance of the operator and patient tissue within 10% accuracy.- Modeled and experimentally validated the electromechanical dynamics of medical devices.- Conducted human trials and wrote multiple IRB-approved protocols for experimental procedures testing the impedance measuring functionality of an actuated probe and corresponding human motion control.- Repaired robotic arm actuators, improved power transmission in the actuated ultrasound probe, implemented additional sensory circuitry, and fabricated components for human interface with the devices.
