As a partner in the firm’s assurance services practice, I provide accounting, assurance and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries. I also have a specific interest in investment funds. Prior to rejoining WB&L, I worked with investment management organizations as a controller and a service provider (fund administration). I’ve lived through audits as both the practitioner and the client. The experience on the other side makes me a better business partner; I can put myself in my client’s shoes and understand their needs and issues.

Fund Controller - Single Family Housing (SFR)
-
Jul 2015 - Oct 2016
At Premium Point, I led the accounting for the company’s venture into single family housing, a developing strategy for the company at the time. I oversaw the accounting and financial reporting of an operation owning approximately 400 single family homes in the southeast across multiple entities. I created the structure and processes to facilitate detailed accounting at the individual property level allowing us to track and report on key metrics for each individual property. I worked closely with management to develop and implement controls to adequately safeguard investor funds. Unfortunately, Premium Point closed its doors in 2016 and did not launch a fund in this strategy to outside investors.

Fund Controller
-
Mar 2013 - Jul 2015
As controller, I was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for approximately $1 Billion of assets under management across multiple funds with varying investment structures. This included managing an accounting group performing A/P, A/R, and cost accounting for over 60 discrete real estate investments (>600,000 acres) across the United States. While at Timbervest, I streamlined processes to reduce quarterly close time and guided all audits to smooth completion well in advance of deadlines. I worked closely with the COO to develop performance attribution reporting and performance forecasting. I made improvements to Timbervest’s cash management process, resulting in an increased frequency of distributions to the limited partners and minimal excess cash held by the funds.I was a key member of the investor relations group. I oversaw the partner allocation process and generation of quarterly partner statements. I was a contributor and editor of communications such as annual meeting materials and quarterly fund updates. On a regular basis, I interacted with limited partners to fulfill custom reporting requests and answer accounting related inquiries.
