Working directly for a contractor is a new challenge for me. This comes after working directly on site in my younger days, and then for tool/plant hire companies for the last ten years.I have established an efficient Plant hire department within Sisk. My role has me based in the Sisk Warrington office, WA1 1RL (Civils) within the Procurement department. Sisk in the UK have approx 20 live sites, Civils and construction (Jan 2020) company turnover €1.5 Billion per year.Key Responsibilities.Ensuring the company strategy’s are adhered to and value maximised - best service, price, reliable and compliant equipment is provided. In no particular order.1. Dealing with all UK sites plant and tool hire requirements. (No name a few. Accommodation, Plant hire, Survey, Small tools, NMP, Fencing, Powered Access, Generators, Pumps and Telehandlers.2. Pre contract pricing. Hoists, Tower cranes, Mobile Cranes and anything else no PSA or agreed rates in place for. 3. Equipment sales.4. Tendering and agreeing new PSA agreements when required for the business.5. Managing two Speedy Implants based in our Manchester office.6. Short term site vehicle hire. I took up the role of Customer Service Team Manager on 01/10/14. The role involved looking after the John Sisk,Northern Gas Networks, Rhodar & Shepherds Implant Hire Desks. The role was field based and I worked in the customers offices in Manchester, Leeds and York respectively. I also covered the desks for holidays/sickness. In addition I also covered Balfour Beatty offices in Birmingham. Getting to know the working systems and understanding what was expected by each customer (processes, excellent service always required) ensured excellent service was delivered by me and my former colleagues working on these desks.

Continuing to work for Speedy Services I took up the role of Team Leader, based in the Manchester procurement office of John Sisk & Son Limited. Working closely with the John Sisk Plant Manager and Sisk procurement staff, my small team and I arrange the hire requirements for the numerous Sisk sites throughout the UK. The role involved dealing with customer hires, off hires, damages and losses, training and general queries for tools, access, generators, lifting, accommodation, survey, pumps, shuttering, mewps, engineering equipment and anything else that site require. Time management and the ability to work under pressure are essential. By doing the job effectively ensures maximum business for Speedy and the customer gets what they want when they want it. Being based in the customers office enhanced the service that Sisk received as orders are picked up in and are being processed in real time. As the role was new when I started I developed various procedures to help both Sisk and Speedy attain a better service. I also helped out on Sisk staff car hire when tasked booking through Sisks preferred supplier. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential. Time management, people management and flexibility are also required as priorities constantly change.
