Having initially stepped up to perform this role on an interim basis due to long-term absence within the team, David was formally promoted to Operations Manager in July 2017.His day-to-day responsibilities encompass ensuring that all aspects of the contracts under his ownership are performing to both client and internal KPIs and standards.His other responsibilities include:- Management reporting and monitoring of P&L performance, ensuring that contracts are delivering as expected against the agreed budgets- Contract management, liaising with clients on a daily basis to ensure that the terms of the contract are being met to their satisfaction- Identification of potential opportunities to expand on existing customer pipeline- Handling of out-of-scope client requests when required- Complaints management and risk mitigation- Supervision of administrative team to help forecast and plan tasks for completion- Leadership and direct line management of engineering team, ensuring that each employee has the correct support and equipment to deliver on their assigned tasksDavid is also responsible for the organisational compliance of regulatory requirements within his operational team, ensuring that all work carried out is of a high standard and meets the statutory legal requirements set out by the relevant industry bodies.

In this role, David was personally responsible for maintaining high levels of engineering performance across all Richard Irvin contracts in the Central Belt of Scotland. He worked alongside his assigned Operations Manager to carry out quality control and implement new processes across all clients as requested. In doing so he identified various cost saving measures, resulting in reduced expenditure on materials by 6.8% year over year.

Gas Maintenance Engineer

Working as part of a team of engineers, this role required David to carry out maintenance and servicing of domestic gas appliances across 2000 properties within North-East Scotland. This work included both preventative and reactive maintenance on a multitude of different systems and appliances in the domestic environment. David liaised regularly with customers, suppliers and Richard Irvin office staff to ensure the completion of planned work on time, schedule and within budget.

Plumbing and Heating Engineer

David joined Number 1 Building Services in August 2005 for a four-year Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship. He initially attended both on and off-site training to develop the core skills required for the role, before applying these skills learned through maintenance and installation of various central heating, domestic plumbing and rainwater systems. Post-graduation from the apprenticeship programme, David continued to build on his existing skills while serving as a mentor for onboarding apprentices.
