David has been my mentor while on production with "The Seen" on Shaw TV. He co-produces, writes, and host's this show; and as a volunteer, I soak up the professional, yet casual and fun atmosphere he brings to the set. Lennam knows how to nurture talent, and like Gandalf the Grey, he brings the best out in everyone. I commute four hours each and every week, on my own dime, just for that experience. -Good times. Thank you David!

John Carswell

Dave is one of the most organized, insightful and entertaining individuals I've worked with in 20 years of television production. He doesn't just love the camera, he embraces it with his entire being.

Produce and host The Seen, a weekly, half-hour television program on music for Shaw TV Vancouver Island with Daniel Pender. We talk to local and touring musicians about their craft and produce live performance videos of their work. The show evolved out of an earlier version I produced and hosted for Shaw for a decade, which covered the arts more generally. I became renowned for being the cheeky guy with a beer in his hand on that one. In the late 1990s, I worked with Stephen White to create an award-winning independent arts/comedy show called Art Attack. I taught journalism students a course called Advanced Writing. The course produced a student magazine as a final project. Instruction concentrated on the finer points of story craft, from framing devices to wordplay to helping new writers find their voice and get settled with the ins and outs of good narrative. Numerous students of mine have graduated into regular employment as journalists world-wide. I taught journalism students a course called Advanced Writing. Of all the jobs I've worked (too numerous to ever try to remember), the most fun was working as the Bell Captain at the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel for several years in the 80s. Why? Well, anyone who has worked a similar gig knows you get handed the veritable keys to the kingdom. But this particular job allowed me to hire my own staff -- 14 of the funniest, most oddball, and creative guys I have ever known -- and then hang out with them every day under the guise of "work". I'm still close friends with many. Everyone should get to do this job once. Frankly, I often think of myself still doing it. Hah! And come the invention of a time machine, I'm dialing up this era of my life to return to the Sheraton to relive that job, those years and all those great friends. Just ask me about the "cold toast treatment" sometime. Show less
