Vertoro is a company developing innovative technologies to transform sustainably sourced woody and agriculture residues into a wide range of bio-based crude oils for chemicals, materials and fuels applications. Within Vertoro, I am involved in upscaling the production of marine methanol-based biofuel from pilot to commercial scale. I bring to the company expertise in different fields, high standards, and flexibility. This is key in connecting and aligning different departments towards a common goal. Main activities: • Continuously developing and improving techno-economical models. • Using the models for calculation of mass and energy flows, CAPEX/OPEX and GHG emissions. • Leading downscaling and upscaling projects between R+D department and production plant. • Leading scientific, quantitative, ML/AI modelling, and programming projects. The PhD thesis with title 'Dynamic modelling of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Central Carbon Metabolism' was performed in the Computational Biology group at TU/e. The project was a public-private partnership with DSM, TU Delft, and VU Amsterdam. NWO Program 'Building Blocks of Life'. I investigated and developed mathematical models of the industrial yeast fermentation process for bioethanol production. Main activities: • Designed and managed six computational projects during a period of four years. • Carried out the full cycle of model development: from raw data import and processing to model implementation for industrial partner. • Coordinated deliverables and data transfer between university and industrial partner. • Built predictive deterministic (mechanistic, CFD) and probabilistic (AI, ML), followed by validation. • Developed a parameter estimation toolbox for complex dynamic systems, followed by algorithms to identify key features in such networks. Metabolic kinetic models. • Delivered 4 peer-reviewed articles, models ready for industrial implementation, supervised +10 students and taught 2 regular courses. Show less
