I worked for Dave as one of his General Managers in the South East / London region of Wolseley Pipe and Climate. When I first met him I was impressed with his passion and vision for the future of the business, and that continued throughout our time together. It was a breath of fresh air to have someone in a senior leadership position actually give direction and focus to help us all to deliver. Under David’s leadership I felt more empowered to make my part of the business my own than in any other role I’ve held. I know the other General Managers and I had an amazing team bond as we were drawn together by Daves leadership and management style. We all knew what was expected but were also given the room to make it happen our way. Due to the environment Dave set, he was able to drive process reviews and fundamental changes across the entire business unit. I saw first hand how ingrained managers were brought round to Dave’s new ways of working as they could see the benefits. Stock holding depth and breath improved as did on time in full metrics. Customer service NPS scores went up due to Dave pushing for full customer engagement among our teams. The way we did business changed. Our offering and service changed. The engagement scores among my team shot up. I’d say this was because of Dave’s relentless positive pressure on me as one of his managers. But I always felt supported and I learned more from Dave than any other manager I’ve had. Ultimately this led to my business unit having the best P&L return it had experienced in 3 years, and that continued month on month. Do I take credit it for that, definitely. Did Dave’s vision, business leadership and passion create a winning environment, absolutely 100%.

Dave is one the best leaders that I have worked with. Dave naturally engages with his team and allows them the room to grow, succeed; there's is always a real sense of engagement and empowerment. Dave has an infectious passion for growing the business profitably and challenges the people and organisation around him to achieve great performance. Dave is diligent and plans well for positive change. Whilst working with Dave we were met with some significant operation challenges. Dave engaged with the team, improving the operational design, efficiencies, structure and dynamic of the region.
