I had the pleasure of being a UX Designer working with David Jacobs on GE’s OPM software (Operations Performance Manager). Dave had a unique ability to speak across the various audiences that were his responsibility. His knowledge of the energy business made him critical to me as a subject matter expert and to the company as a customer-facing advocate. More importantly though he understood team dynamics within a software design/development team. I trusted Dave to plan and guide our release cycles in a way that was responsive to customer needs and respectful of the team’s sanity.

Expert in digital transformation and assisting customers to traverse the immense gap between existing operations performance and the new age of our digital world. I am currently developing an Operationally direct software as a service product that is designed to reduce operating costs and improve plant efficiency and flexibility through operational recommendations and advise. The product will allow customers to gain a better understanding of how their asset is operating, and more importantly, how to improve that operating profile. This product is being designed and developed by energy industry professionals, for energy industry professionals. The management team has over 70 years of operating and management experience in the power generation industry dealing with the same challenges as our customers face today around the globe. We leverage state of the art AI / ML approach and use Exception Based Monitoring to identify potential drifts in the processes which we then apply our proprietary predictive analytics to address and correct the anomaly. Our product measures standard industry KPIs to identify operational gaps that could be due to equipment limitations, operations staff culture, or simply not fully understanding the capabilities of the asset. Apex provides the insight to ascertain what the contributing factors are and provides sound operational advise on how to close those gaps. The result is better efficiency and flexibility of the generating asset, which means substantial savings for the customer, whether it be fuel savings or the incremental savings across the various processes such as water chemistry and emissions control.

Developed the process to move the existing Operations Excellence software model to a more robust architecture. This required building a new software model from scratch which was called Operations Optimization. This product utilized the Predix platform and AWS cloud solutions. Managed multiple global development teams to build out the new product. Served as the Subject Matter Expert in Operations to support the vision and execution of the product roadmap. Met with customers around the globe which provided deep insight into the challenges that we face as a global generation industry. Supported legal and marketing to draft ATQs for customers. Was asked to speak at the annual CTOTF conference in Orlando to discuss the digital journey and was published in Turbomachinery magazine.

Performed Operational Readiness Assessment for EPR as owner's rep at a facility in Plainfield, CT. This was a C & D facility that was being operated by a 3rd party O&M. The owner was Leidos, which is a subsidiary of SAIC. Upon completion there were several opportunities identified and I was asked to stay on to help the owner bring the facility to the standards it expected.
