Started with company as sole engineering resource to design, develop and bring to market precision man machine interface controllers. Primary focus is on precision Hall Effect based industrial joysticks. Launched 14 independent product lines in just over 3 years which are fully tested, tooled and manufactured in-house. Product lines include over 250 custom designed injection molded parts, 35 custom printed circuit boards, multiple springs (extension, compression, torsion) and machined metal parts. In charge of all engineering and product development including but not limited to: - Initial concept and Solidworks mechanical design - Prototyping, using both in-house 3D printing and fully furnished machine shop. - Formally trained by tool makers to use manual lathe, EDM Wire machine, 3 Axis CNC machine, surface grinder, etc. - Prototype validation through mechanical and electrical testing, software build & integration if necessary. - Direct and manage all electrical and software engineering. - Designed and machined all static and dynamic test fixtures including mechanical cycle tester. - Source and maintain relationships with manufacturers for custom designed springs, printed circuit boards, silicone rubber parts, injection molded parts, labels, cables, wires and other mechanical and electrical hardware. - Coordinate all 3rd party testing at off-site facility to industry EMI/EMC test standards. Designed and built custom voltage display units for each product line for real time monitoring during testing. - Setup assembly line and parts inventory for ease of manufacturing and process flow. - Wrote all product assembly instructions for production personnel. - Act as company Application Engineer for all customer related technical and application related questions. - Work with current and potential customers to design and manufacture custom solutions to meet their needs. Responsible for designing products inclusive of full electro-mechanical assemblies from concept through production using SolidWorks software. For sleep apnea studies, designed a silicon-rubber product which seals around all shapes and sizes of a patient's face to monitor airflow during sleep. Co-designed and documented each injection molded part for an ovulation tester and was involved in tooling modifications, etc. Assisted in the development of all parts and assemblies of a machine to test for various blood abnormalities, including CNC machined aluminum and delrin plastic. Collaborated on the design of many small electro-mechanical devices, including the industrial design of injection-molded housings (child locating device, brain monitoring device, security camera).
