  As a member of the Equities database engineering team, I was involved in many aspects of Sybase development, application releases, monitoring, capacity management and strategy. I developed and maintained software using SQL, perl, python, shell and web technologies for those purposes. I participated in numerous projects, such as Sybase upgrades for all business unit dataservers (11.0 to 12.5 to 15.7 to 16.0), Y2K, Euro conversion, datacentre migrations, Solaris to Linux migration and various rounds of increasingly stringent data access remediation.   I worked on several major projects at BAM (later ING). Initially the role was to provide both Sybase and UNIX knowledge for the installation of the "Onsite" portfolio position tracking application, as both technologies were new to the company. I then worked on the conversion of in-house applications from HP "Allbase" to Sybase, developing automated migration scripts for schema, data load scripts and reporting programs.
