I worked alongside Dr. Ashish Rawal, orthopedic surgeon with fellowships in both sports medicine and cartilage restoration, as well as two physician assistants in treating and managing a vast array of orthopedic injuries. My clinical responsibilities entailed clinical efficiency process management, surgical first and second assist responsibilities, DME management, pre-visit planning, documentation, managing ongoing clinical research through Stryker's Surgical Outcomes System, as well as teaching our Total Care for Total Joints patient education class for all knee and hip arthroplasty patients. I am residency trained, and have my Orthopedic Technologist Certification (OTC). This enables me to scrub in as a first and second assist in hospitals and surgery centers. I have a great understanding of the necessary skills developed and maintained in the operating room with a wide variety of orthopedic cases under my belt from ACL reconstructions to arthroplasties. Research supports the use of athletic trainers in the physician practice. Athletic trainers improve clinic efficiency by improving patient throughput in freeing up MD’s and PA’s to see more patients. Clinical athletic trainers are proficient in casting, splinting, bracing, suture removal and wound care. Athletic trainers are invaluable in regards to patient education, DME management, as well as other patient care and clinical processes. Consider hiring a certified athletic trainer (ATC) into your medical practice to increase patient throughput optimization and revenue. Show less
