Bio

I had the pleasure of working for over a year on a county-wide strategic planning process for which Dave Gordon served as lead author and program manager. There were dozens of people contributing to multiple elements involving technical and political research, interpretation, value assessment, consolidation and derivation of recommendations. Dave did a remarkable job of maintaining group focus and forward movement among strong personalities, across all program components. Under his measured leadership, the group completed a comprehensive 20-year strategic plan document on time and on budget. I'd gladly work with Dave again should the opportunity present.

David and I worked together on the strategic plan for the Blue Horizons Project - a collaborative effort to move our area of North Carolina to 100% clean energy. David was the very effective project manager for the year long effort to build and document a shared vision of a 20 year project to meet our community goal. If you want an understanding of just how significant an undertaking this was, you need to go no further than actually to read the plan (45 pages) along with the detailed appendix (132 pages). Have a look: https://bluehorizonsproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Strategic-Plan-for-Transitioning-Buncombe-County-to-100-Renewable-Energy-by-2042.pdf I was most impressed by David's ability to organize a group effort of technically skilled volunteers with disparate backgrounds to work together to achieve a a cohesive plan and result. He did a great job of orchestrating the efforts of many people - perhaps as many as 100 - into the final result. He refocused us on our mission and vision at the beginning of every meeting. He was meticulous in documenting every meeting in detail and in keeping to a schedule that was very tight at times. He continually chased down the details and resolved inconsistencies and conflicts within the group. Simply put, he was a very effective project manager both in terms of the details and in terms of motivating and managing the many contributors. David is adept at "on the job learning". He learned a lot about the mechanics of our effort (word processing, spreadsheet models, etc) and about the complex subject matter as well (energy consumption, forecasting, alternative energy approaches, renewable energy credits, renewable technologies, etc). He will be able bring those skills to bear on his future endeavours. He will be a valuable addition to a team focused on working in any related areas.
