• Conduct forensic inspections of new and existing buildings per a directive from Governor Rell to assure work completed under the UCONN 2000 Program were code compliant and safe to occupy. Obtain evidence and prepare comprehensive reports concerning violations observed during inspections. • Approve plans, specifications and standards for new construction and renovation projects at all University campuses. • Keep inspection records and prepare reports for use by the State Building Inspector and judicial authorities.• Inspect building systems including, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, means of egress, accessibility, structural components and other building systems covered by the building code during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to specifications and codes.• Create and administer Power Point training programs based on the National Electrical Code for University Facilities personnel.• Attend construction meetings to communicate building code requirements for both outside contractors and University personnel. • Maintain 90 hours of required continuing education credits for both Fire Marshal and Building Official certifications.
