Dave managed the rebuild of the Flash Smelting Furnace, part of the largest and most comprehensive rebuilds in the history of the RTKC Smelter. This rebuild included the Flash Smelter, Waste Heat Boilers, ESPs, the Anode refining furnaces, and refurbishment of the Acid Plant. He led a large workforce, and developed effective relationships that promoted an atmosphere of trust, open communication and problem solving. Because of that atmosphere, when problems were encountered, every stakeholder came to the table ready to do what was necessary to resolve the issue. I respected his leadership style. He impressed me with his ability to see through the noise and urgency of smaller matters and focus on the issues that made large gains in efficiency and safety. Dave has tremendous technical strength and an amazing memory; recalling important details when time was of the essence.
