The initial data format was not supported by software available to the team. Using the R language, the data was transformed into a useable format for the existing software package. • Improved the accuracy of pore pressure modeling (anticipates and prevents well loss) by writing a VBA script that allowed the model to account for drilling through a rock layer at any angle. The existing model assumed drilling directly through a rock layer. • Saved engineering operations time by creating a real time dashboard reporting well control (uncontrolled flow of fluids from the well) incidents by level of severity using SQL, operational databases, and plotting software. Before the real time dashboard, someone would have to review all safety incidents and determine if any were well control incidents. • Provided statistical support to help the subsea group determine the safest and most cost-effective plan to replace mechanical bolts on under water wells. Computed the statistical odds of bolt failure given the estimated quality of the bolts, sample size, and number of bolts in the field. • Streamlined the scheduling of engineering and operational subject matter experts by creating a centralized project status reporting database. Managed the business requirements with the software team during the creation of the database. Project teams entered actual or expected completions dates for milestones which were reported back to the central team to anticipate when a subject matter expert would be needed. • Streamlined the time and cost estimating procedure by updating the time and cost estimating standard.

      • Sep 2011 - Sep 2015

Houston, Texas, United States • Improved engineers’ use of the time and cost estimating software by creating training materials and conducting training classes. The software creates estimates using Monte Carlo methods which are not intuitive. The classes taught both the use of the software and conceptual understanding of the algorithms that powered the software. • Standardized drilling performance benchmarking by writing a benchmarking guideline.
