Provide clients EOD (End-of-Day) and EOM (End-of-Month) with Gauge Adjusted Radar Rainfall (GARR). To produce GARR, NEXRAD Doppler radar is QCed manually in a GUI and then calibrated with rain gauges that have also been QCed to remove erroneous data. Created a climatology of cloud to ground (CG) lightning in Alaska and correlated lightning data with concurrent NARR data using principle component analysis to determine which meteorological patterns were most conducive for CG lightning to occur. Logistic regression equations for forecasting CG lightning with S-Plus using the most relevant patterns identified.
