My role as Contracts & Technical Manager at ARG Surveys I undertake many roles and responsibilities which contributes to the smooth and successful running of the surveying department. I am responsible for scoping, estimating, quotations, tenders, project delivery, budgeting and invoicing for most of the projects that come through the department which range from simple asbestos management surveys to large and complex refurbishment and demolition surveys.In addition I also manage and develop a team of 5-10 staff which include surveyors, senior surveyors, administrators and trainees which report direct into my role. These staff members enable me to deliver on my targets and provide essential support in running a successful department. My position as Technical Manager also allows me to champion in house projects such as electronic reporting systems for the surveyors and applying for external bodies & auditors like UKAS.

As a Project Manager I am responsible for several key clients requirement's for asbestos consultancy which ranges from management surveys, refurbishment & demolition surveys, re-inspections, air monitoring, compliance gap analysis and consultancy works to large multi-site portfolios.In my position, I identify the needs required by the client, provide quotations for any work which ranges from a fixed schedule of rates, price per job, and framework agreements, then onto delivery of the works and reporting and finally invoicing and identifying opportunities for further works through close client liaison and building relationships to form partnerships with the client and their contractors. Part of my role in the management team is to provide feedback on PQQ's and attend tender meetings regarding technical aspects of the project. In addition to client facing works, I also carry out internal audits on our team across disciplines and external audits on contractors where specified by the client. I have also been involved in the company's mentor scheme which involves providing advice to the newer members of the team and guidance towards achieving their own goals.

I went onto carrying out my own on-site projects which I had to manage my schedule to plan, carry out and quality review asbestos surveys, I was also put in charge of air monitoring stations for various BT sites around London.
