Maintain grain handling facilities. Responsibilities included repairing worn equipment, such as replacing ball bearings and splicing conveyor belts. Also, I oversee the operation of weighing and unloading grain trucks. Experience in working filthy jobs but with great pride and reward. These jobs include binsweeping tanks during the transitions between harvest seasons as well as cleaning out subpar grain and fertilizer from bins and spills. Other included tasks: improving communication between our Hispanic workforce and all other employes, through acquired proficiency in Spanish. Skills I have acquired include many types of technical knowledge and understanding of heavy-machinery processes as well as relational skills, in business, especially through my special connection with our Hispanic workforce. Bridging the language barrier in the workplace has helped me grow in knowledge and understanding of people of all backgrounds as well as open up opportunities abroad with my acquired language skills. I was an Intern with Archer Western Contractor's Project "Dos Rios Sludge Processing Facility" in San Antonio, Tx from May 2017 to August 2017. I worked directly for one of the Project Managers of this site. My main function included: Translating engineering plans to the Field crews, Verifying dimensions, Schedule/progress reporting, and additionally equipping newly promoted Field Superintendents with necessary Math and Engineering skills to effectively carry out their job tasks (done in Spanish). Through this experience, I learned how vastly different Wastewater Construction and Processes are in Texas Compared to Maryland. I learned extensively about Archer Western's operations in Texas. I was an Intern at Archer Western Contractors'' 877 Project at Back River Waste Water Treatment Plant during Fall Semester 2016 . I worked directly with one of the Project Managers on site. My responsibilities included facilitating communication between Field Workers and Management as well as managing inventory and progress reporting of an Activated Sludge Plant. Many Main tasks I carried out involve contacting subcontractors/vendors as well as submitting RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders.. etc. Through this Co-op I learned a lot about the construction industry as well as Waste Water processes and regulations in Maryland.
