Experience

    • Wind Energy CFD Researcher
      • Aug 2022 - Present

*Main tasks of CFD simulation (using OpenFOAM): - Airfoils affected by LEE/LER. Use of Vortex Generators to mitigate roughness and erosion effects. - Complex terrain simulations assuming neutral stability conditions and modelling the effect of the different types of vegetation. - Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT) affected by LER/LEE. - New concepts of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT). - Floating wind turbine platforms. *Digital cartography work (using QGIS). Preparation of Digital Elevation Models (DEM ) and vector layers for use in CFD simulations. *Programming in Python and BASH. Show less

    • Intern at the Wind Turbine Analysis and Design Department
      • Feb 2022 - Jun 2022

Master thesis internship at the Wind Turbine Analysis and Design Department (ADA), within the CFD team specialised in OpenFOAM. Work with the OpenFOAM CFD code and different finite volume meshers (blockMesh, SnappyHexMesh, ICEM, ANSYS WorkBench, ...) for the preparation of structured and unstructured meshes. Simulation of blades in clean and turbulent flow conditions, taking into account different sizes and typologies of roughness and erosion. Simulation of the above conditions including non-conventional vortex generators via fully resolved mesh models. Development of a Python program to control and post-process the simulations. Show less

Final year project internship. 3D design using Solidworks software of a body kit with a lifting system for a lorry trailer using reverse engineering. Drawing of plans of all the elements designed and creation of rendered images and videos (using Visualize Professional) of the assembly, disassembly and operation of the various assemblies and sub-assemblies.
