David was the most awesome example of how a small retail shop should embed itself into the community, becoming a part of the everyday life of the customers who surrounded his shop. His bird store became the place we came to meet and swap "do you have bluebirds this year?" stories and to learn from each other strategies that worked as well as those that didn't...all facilitated by David's gentle manner and engaging personality. He really knew his "bird stuff" and was always willing to help us solve thorny problems, often going the extra mile and offering to do things nobody expected from a normal retail relationship. I have a feeling that the way he approached the bird store is exactly the way he deals with any client/service provider relationship and I can unequivocally state that I would hire him regardless of the services he provides in the future!
