Contemporaneous is an ensemble of 23 musicians whose mission is to bring to life the music of now. Based in New York City and active throughout the United States, David co-founded the ensemble in 2010 and established it as a not-for-profit organization. Along with Co-Artistic Director and composer Dylan Mattingly, David provides artistic direction and vision for programming, conducts the ensemble in as many as 20 performances per season, leads outreach programs and university residencies, and works with the staff and Board of Directors to produce the organization’s programs, develop audiences, ensure operational aptitude, and raise funds from individual supporters and grant makers

Present Music is one of the nation’s leading ensembles specializing in commissioning and performing new music. Founded and based in Milwaukee since 1982, Present Music has firmly established one of the largest audiences for new music in the country. Along with Co-Artistic Director and violinist Eric Segnitz, David provides artistic direction and vision for programming for over 10 performances per season, conducts the ensemble, and leads the organization's community and educational initiatives. The Dream Unfinished is an activist orchestra. Its mission is to use classical music as a platform to engage audiences in dialogues surrounding social and racial justice. David joined the organization when it was founded in 2015 and has since conducted select concerts, covered for guest conductors, served in an advisory capacity in programming music by composers of color, and advised in the selection of guest conductors, soloists, and composers.
