As part of the Guy Hopkins Construction team in the Texas region, I am proud to be the superintendent that built Harley Marine Gulf Maritime Center along the ship channel, which show cased their work in Houston. The LEED project included a shop building with a 5 ton bridge crane, an office building with open ceiling concepts, and 700 feet of dock work and revetment that moors push boats and barges. The project went into operation July, 2017 and proved itself during Hurricane Harvey. I started working at the age of 17 as a land surveyor, and my career included several companies in Bossier City, LA. and Houston TX. The pinnacle of my survey career was as a crew chief in Waxahachie, TX establishing first order elevations between bench marks for the proposed 56 mile Superconducting Supercollider which Congress eventually chose not to fund. Working in the woods for a decade showed me things that you can't learn in books and I still use contemporary survey instruments in my construction work to keep building measurements tight.
