Employed as an Aircraft Mechanic in Loganair's hangar at Aberdeen Airport. As a member of a small team I work on Saab 340 and Saab 2000 turbo-prop aircraft. Recently this has been expanded to include Embraer 135 and 145.Tasks I have been involved with include daily and weekly inspections and A-checks as detailed by the aircraft maintenance programme and updating the Aircraft Tech Log. Additionally, I take an active part in fault diagnosing, repairs of defects and assessment of damage to aircraft structure. Periodically, I am also involved with scheduled and unplanned maintenance tasks such as engine, gearbox and landing gear strut replacements.Other daily tasks I am required to carry out are requisition of spares using the OASES computer system, aircraft towing and taking fuel samples checking for water contamination.I have recently applied for my basic B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence and in the summer 2018 I successfully completed a Saab 340 type course and associated practical training.
