David is one of those lucky finds that crosses your path on rare occasions when seeking a talented and skilled executive in the luxury resort business. Having managed Half Moon Golf and Spa Resort for some time now, I have gotten to work closely with David on key marketing and public relations initiatives to boost the image of the resort. David stepped right into his role leading the charge and has far exceeded my expectations along with having a keen eye for detail, creativity, loyalty and enthusiasm rarely found in our space today. He is exquisite in his vocabulary and writing not to mention his out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to building awareness, driving revenues and promotions that gain excitement from existing and future guests. He is truly a one-of-a-kind Director of Marketing (the best I have worked with on a property level) and one that I hope his drive to excel and beat the competition continues for years to come…..

David and I worked closely on a strategic partnership between Sandals and Kuoni which we developed into a major investment in marketing and promotion spend repositioning Sandals in the luxury vacation market and driving up revenue and bed nights. His huge experience and knowledge, wisdom and practicality combined with great charm and energy made him almost the perfect commercial partner to work with. David invariably knows the right path to follow and "gets things done" with the minimum of fuss, a little bit of fun and a great deal of impact.

    • Director of Public Relations and Product Development
      • Jun 2004 - Feb 2008

I was responsible for European and Japan public relations and brand development for all 3 brands plus private villas as well as providing logistical support to Air Jamaica as a sister company. The public relations and communications plan was devised to communicate internally and externally a total re-image of the brands which not only delivered increased occupancy and income but re-positioned the brand and guest experience through the development of innovative product enhancements. Separately, I wrote and implemented a communications strategy to launch the work of the Sandals Foundation (philanthropic enterprises) internationally and foster support. I managed public relations agencies and representatives throughout Europe as well as Caribbean-based PR Managers.

    • Regional Director Worldwide
      • Feb 1997 - May 2004

I wrote and implemented (following Government sign-off) a tourism policy and strategy which covered marketing, communications, promotion, heritage protection, education and investment programmes. The strategy was conceived on the basis of creating a "Brand Jamaica", linking together all facets of Jamaican life and in so doing, successfully changed the negative perception of Jamaica into positive and increased non North-American visitor numbers from a base of 10% of total to 30% of total with incremental airlift from new markets supported by inward hotel investment. I managed 6 European offices and 1 in Japan and I directed and managed European public relations agencies and a London advertising agency.

On behalf of the CTO membership (both public and private sector), I was responsible for marketing, membership development, research, education of Caribbean Nationals, strategy development, lobbying and co-ordination of European CTO Chapters. I was asked to transfer on secondment for a three year assignment within the Frankfurt office of Steigenberger Consulting to assume charge of the European component of the Caribbean Tourism Development Programme, funded by the European Union through the resources of Lome IV. I brought the project to successful completion, accounting for my activities and reporting to both the CTO and DGVIII in Brussels. Recognised for "outstanding performance on behalf of the Caribbean in the European marketplace" at the 19th Caribbean Tourism Conference in Nassau.
