My column, "Measure for Measure," offers insights into songwriting, based on my recent book, "Compose Yourself," which was inspired in large part by music lessons with Jef Raskin, creator of the Macintosh project at Apple, who was a UCSD music professor before he came to Silicon Valley. Author of "Compose Yourself" and 61 bimonthly columns for American Songwriter under the title "Measure for Measure." Also have written two books about my late father titled "Gravity Control with Present Technology," and "The Top-Ten UFO Riddles -- Solutions from Science," available on Amazon. The UFO book (2017) predicted the current spate of stories making the rounds, identifying them as part of an expanding effort to acclimate the world to the presence of "the visitors." The purpose of the book is to lessen the culture shock by explaining the technology at work in them, technology which is easily reproducible and could launch a revolution in space travel and terrestrial transportation while mitigating climate change. The story of why it hasn't so far is part of the book, but spoiler alert: It's not a conspiracy of any kind. It's good ol' human nature. Show less
