Being damn smart. Trusting my gut. Taking risks. Finding weakness. Defending spot on ideas. Owning up. Soothing egos. Being a client's worst critic. Avoiding pitfalls. Abhorring subpar work. Calling out Bullshit. Praising the great. Giving advice. Listening to ideas. Thinking ahead. Looking back. Remembering a billion things. Making clients money. Being damn smart. Trusting my gut. Before the dot com boom and bust I was among a small cadre of lucky folks figuring out what to do with this new fangled thing called the World Wide Web. I was there creating some of the very first web sites, e-commerce sites and trying to explain why photos took forever to load on a 14k modem. It was an amazing time and experience. One of those rare occasions when we we're the ones writing the rules of good/bad/right/wrong. Not only did I learn how to write for the online user, I also learned coding which gave me a tremendous insight I still depend on today.
