  Proposed, gained approval/funding, and managed the retirement of IDMS at United Airlines by converting it to DB2 on z/OS. This project was successfully completed on-time and on-budget, and it resulted in $600k/year savings, ongoing. Also, managed the upgrade of all of the out-of-support Oracle databases, approximately 100 databases.

  Responsible for managing the outsourcing environment, by partnering with the appropriate vendors for Infrastructure and Application support, including the management of budget, SLA's and staffing while driving ongoing efficienciesProgram Manager for the Re-Hosting/Elimination of the company's four mainframe boxes, which were comprised of 3,400 MIPS. Directly oversaw the management of 70+ externals as part of the first phase of the implementation.Mainframe costs reduced from $24MM at start of outsourcing to $7MM via re-hosting, retirements, remediation, benchmarking and tuning over a three year period. The platform is in the process of final elimination that will bring it down to zero by the end of 2012. Directly responsible for the negotiation and procurement of licenses ($1MM+ total spend) for mainframe re-hosting and company split, driving cost synergies for both companies.Negotiated the new mainframe contract with our outsourcing partner for infrastructure, driving $4MM of annual savings and positioning us to exit the platform in a cost effective manner.Directed mainframe tuning efforts after initial infrastructure outsourcing to drive $2MM in annual savings.Cadbury North American Integration Lead - was responsible for delivering the overall integration of the Cadbury IT organization into the Kraft infrastructure, while achieving budget objectives and cost synergies.AS400 Value Transformation - delivered $2.4MM total productivity savings by consolidating and eliminating nine AS400 boxes, going from 14 boxes down to 5.Application Support manager for two years in support of outsourcing for B2B Hub, Business Objects, Source-to-Pay (Indirect Procurement), and MRP systems. Managed a staff of 20+ internals and 45+ externals, while continuing to look for opportunities to reduce internals, while driving cost efficiencies with the outsourcer. Total budget responsibility was $2MM internal and $3.5MM external.

Through my efforts, Kraft was able for avoid a mainframe upgrade from 2003 on, even while integrating the Nabisco Foods division into the Kraft infrastructure, avoiding a $1MM+ upgrade.
