I own and operate a metal shop putting together and finishing bronze sculptures for artists all around the country. I weld together panels of bronze to create monuments, as well as table top size sculptures. This is a very critical stage for the sculptural process and I have to communicate closely with the artist I am working with. This job has helped build a very strong work ethic and great communication skills.

I worked at this studio doing everything from sculpting monumental size works to shipping and receiving. Kent is a world renowned sculptor and he keep us very busy. I developed many good work skills here and had a great working relationship with the two other co-workers.

SHELL ROOM
-
Jan 2004 - Aug 2004
Castings is a bronze foundry and I was working in the shell room. I was dipping wax (sculptures) into a liquid know as "slurry" when it hardens it becomes a ceramic shell. The wax inside the shell then gets burned out by the molten bronze thus leaving a bronze in the shape of the original wax sculpture. This job required skill and a hard working attitude.

Here at Ostermiller Studio I worked mostly as a metal finisher but also I got to sculpt, mold and patina. This was my first art studio job I obtained right out of high school. I really learned a lot about responsibility and respect in the work place.
