Working as the Facility Documentation Manager for Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama I have several major functions that all work in tandem to allow for the hospital to have an overall complete digital facility management process. I am responsible for and manage the hospital’s Building Information Modeling and Management (BIM) process, the hospital’s digital plan room that contains over 85,000 digital plans from the hospital’s original construction in the early 1960’s to present day, the construction and facility management communication software system that allows all project communication to be tracked from concept through completion, and then into facility management, staff training on how to access and use the digital data, coordination on capital projects between design team and contractors. This process is documented and administered in a comprehensive Facility Documentation Management Process & Protocol Manual that I am responsible for called Project Redbook. Prior to working with Children’s of Alabama I worked with a Birmingham based construction company for four years in their BIM & Healthcare Division as the Project Facilitator between them and Children’s of Alabama. The bulk of my work experience is from the 18 years of Project Management and Architectural Design experience that I gained while working with various architectural firms in both Alabama and Georgia. This experience includes: design, construction document production management, construction administration, and general firm management. My project management experience includes: commercial, residential, educational, hospitality, and healthcare design.
