Began with EQC as an estimator in 2010 in the aftermath of the Canterbury Earthquake Sequences. Worked non-Canterbury events and in 2015 was engaged by EQC as a loss adjuster in a preferred contractor role. Since then I have been engaged in as well as headed various roles and projects both as an assessor as well as a subject matter expert and senior estimator. Commenced a permanent position with EQC as a Natural Disaster Assessor/Subject Matter Expert mid 2017 - 2020 and was appointed as a Senior Natural Disaster Assessment Specialist end of 2020. Highlights include: • Managed the assessment teams charged with assessing and settling MUBs (Multi-Unit Buildings) across the country as well and land assessments in Kaikoura and Wellington following the Kaikoura event. Included developing an entirely new approach to how information was collected, how buildings were assessed, how costs were estimated, and how information was produced for customers. I simplified the process providing greater output with fewer assessors. • Developed and maintained relationships with key stakeholders and outside parties such as the private insurers, engineers, body corporate management providers, valuers, repairers etc. • Continued to provide guidance to other field staff and claim managers. • Along with one other assessor was chosen to provide expert guidance to the L&D department on exemplar ways of communicating with customers and assessing claims. Developed training material for third party assessors as well as providing ongoing shadowing and training. Engaged as a SME for developing assessor manuals and other training guides for the upcoming NDRA agency agreement with the general insurers. Recently, I fronted the training for the general insurers on EQC land cover. This work is currently ongoing. Show less
