As my first industry role in the Software Testing space, I began my role in a Firmware delivery team whose aim was to provide quality Firmware through the execution of both manual and existing automated test scripts. As I progressed, I moved through various teams in the QA test space and currently find myself working on a project where it is my job to develop Automated Test Scripts along with the supporting Java-based Test Infrastructure required to run them. In this role I work alongside software developers in a small QA team where we practice Agile methodologies and provide quality firmware releases for a new Microservice based payment solution.

The success of my final year individual research project saw its continuation as paid contract work with the Crown research company 'Scion'. This project involved the design and development of a Wireless Sensor Network for actively monitoring perishable goods. During this time, I focused primarily on electrical design, system architecture, and the embedded programming of a previously conceived solution. - Working with STM32 ARM microcontrollers, I2C, Serial COMS, GPS, Zigbee, and 3G modules. - Exposure and experience with IoT development. - Communicating directly with clients to develop a solution based on feedback. - Substantial experience in electronic circuit design using Altium as well as SMD reflow soldering. - Working with HTTP requests to forward sensor data to an online user interface. - Working heavily with embedded C programming to develop the system's software architecture. - Taking initiative and working independently to research and develop a solution in accordance with deadlines.

While at University, I was involved in several course work projects which aimed to provide more on-hand experience to students; apposed to just theoretical work. Some of these projects included a mechanical coil winding system, an automated forklift storage/retrieval system, an automatic card reorientation system as well as more industry based individual and group projects carried out in our final year. All of these projects provided experience and exposure to skills, tools, and software including: - Embedded C programming using Keil, MBED, SW4STM32 (Eclipse), STM32Cube. - Circuit design in Altium/Eagle, PCB manufacturing, and soldering skills. - Image recognition using Visual Studio (C++) with OpenCV and Boost libraries. - Report writing and developmental cycle of solutions from a brief to a prototype stage. - Experience using workshop tools and operating 3D printers, lazer cutters, and other machinery. - CAD and simulations using Solidworks and other software such as TwinCAT PLC.

As part of my degree work placement, I worked in collaboration GNS Sciences. I worked to help set up the infrastructure required for a LoRa (Low Power Wide Area) network capable of real-time data collection from remote sensors. Successful range tests of up to 2.5km were performed following the initial setup of the network. - Worked with Linux based Raspberry Pi computers. - Evaluating and interfacing with LoRa enabled devices. - Working productively in a team. - Following health and safety regulations.
