  Having been an ECA member for a number of years and holding the position of Brighton Branch Chairman for 4 years and a member of the South East Region Executive Committee it was an honour to be handed the position of South East Regional Chairman until January 2016. I now represent the South East Region on the National Council.   I was a retained fire fighter at Shoreham for 10 years, a job I loved. Always a little boy who just wanted to to be a fireman but a job you couldn't start until you were 18 and by then I was in the middle of an electrical apprentiship, then a few years later the retained opportunity came up and I jumped at the chance. Promoted to Leading Fire Fighter after 3 years I enjoyed over 10 brilliant years, never knowing what to expect next and faced with so many different situations I gained invaluable life experiance and new skills whilst making many friends on the way. Eventually my full time work was demanding more of my time, also I was finding it harder and harder to get out of bed to a screaming alerter in the middle of the night so unfortunately something had to give.
