Research Project Title: A Novel Approach to Map Epigenomic Data to Individual Evolutionarily Young Transposable Elements. Research Summary: Transposons are repetitive genomic elements implicated in both health and disease, however mapping of ChIP-seq data to individual copies was not possible due to the copy number of lowly divergent sequences in the genome. We recently published a computational tool which is able to map protein positional information with high accuracy to individual loci by leveraging chromatin conformation information to inform read assignment. This will allow for better understanding of transposon transcriptional regulation. The project primarily focused on the experimental and computational validation of the tool. Show less
