I managed the development of business in the Automated Guided Vehicle, Industrial Sensors, and Mobile Robotics application markets for the company's laser, radar, RFID, and inertial navigation products and expertise. This involved world wide travel with 90% of business being export. The position required an in depth comprehension of potential end application engineering problems for driverless vehicle and other robotic platform navigation. I started this company jointly with my brother Andy Turner. We designed and manufactured time and attendance products. I designed all of the hardware and firmware and specified the internet based user software functionality. Our business model was to host all data and reports for customers paying a quarterly subscription fee, whose clock data terminals connected to our server via TCP/IP connection. Each employee had a Maxim Dallas 1-wire unique ID tag for clocking in and out. The clock terminal unit was microcontroller, LCD and flash memory based with serial to Ethernet interface. Due to recession and subsequent order cancellation and delay we were unable to continue funding the company and it is now trading still but virtually dormant. Show less

I founded the company in 1993 in our spare bedroom. It is named after my two sons Lewis and Maxwell. We built our business over 12 years to deal with OEMs and Electronic Component Distributors in UK and Europe. I designed and built our own robotic handlers and programmmers which gave and still give the company it's competitive edge in the volume programming, marking, and reeling marketplace. I designed and sold via Farnell Components a range of universal PIC MCU socket adapters to enable low cost programming via ZIF socket programmers of most smt package variants in the range. This product is still vibrant today. I negotiated the sale of the business in 2006 to a distributor Transonics and remained as MD until November 2007. I stayed on as a consultant until August 2008. After three and a half years at Microchip Technology Inc I became the head of their sales representative company for the UK which I started in January 1996. We grew to 14 people and I started the Technical Support Desk and distributor applications engineer qualification program. I designed and manufactured various support and development tools such as the PIC Tutorial Kit sold via Farnell Electronics to provide project based tutorials for key features and peripheral functions of the PIC range. After the end of our contract with Microchip many of my staff were employed directly by Microchip or it's distributors and some remain with them today. Show less
