As Founder of Barker Langham, he has guided the company’s evolution into one of the world’s leading cultural practices. His approach is defined by clarity of vision combined with robust financial understanding and he is a sector-wide authority on the impact of cultural developments on urban economies. Darren's vision, business and operational planning work has shaped the development of landmark cultural projects across the world. Today he directs the company’s work on vision development, options appraisals, business, spatial and operational planning. Darren is a highly experienced planner and creator of cultural projects, and has lectured and published on cultural and business planning. Most recently he authored the lead chapter in ‘The Alchemy of Cultural Planning’, a new publication from the International Council of Museums, due for publication in 2021. Darren was included in the inaugural Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List 2020 alongside esteemed peers from cultural institutions across the globe. Darren is an expert advisor and mentor to the UK National Lottery Heritage Fund and the National Heritage Memorial Fund. He also led the creation of Barker Langham Analytics – our cloud based business planning tool for the culture and museum sector. In addition, he is a Founder of Barker Langham Recruitment, which delivers organisational design and governance strategies, and recruits the best talent for projects around the world.
