Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) I have the honor of presenting at Avid Summer Institute, path trainings, and professional learning workshops locally and across the country. I help teachers and administrators implement the AVID college readiness system and develop best practice strategies schoolwide. Specifically, I facilitate 3-day summer institute trainings, 2-day path trainings, or 1-day workshops on various topics. In addition, I facilitate site team work sessions to assist schools and districts with planning using the continuous improvement cycle. I worked with the History department to plan curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, and discover resources to increase student achievement. I became the department chair in 2014. In this role I led the Social Studies department and provided support for teachers on my team and in other PLCs, to increase student achievement. I was also appointed the Student Government advisor (2012-2014), planned several events, and service projects that contributed to a positive culture. I was also fortunate to be selected by my peers as "Teacher of the Year" for our school in 2014. I was also selected Teacher of the Year for the West Learning Community.
