Melissa Law, CPCC, ACC
I had the pleasure of working with Darlene for just over a year while she was in the Learning Specialist role at Revera. From the first moment I met Darlene she was welcoming, honest, and genuine. I valued the open dialogue we would have about projects and experiences. Over the years, Darlene has designed a number of clean, crisp facilitator and participant guides leveraging research and experience for her delivery of face-to-face and virtual instructor led courses around various management skills. She is wonderfully collaborative to work with and is a great brainstorming partner. Highly communicative and regarded with a significant degree of trust, Darlene is a joy to work with and made numerous contributions to the progression of learning at Revera during her tenure.

Darlene worked for me as a Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist for several years at Revera. She played an instrumental role in helping to set up the L&D function and executing Revera's first ever L&D Strategic Plan. She developed and delivered many leadership training programs including our signature Lead to Succeed course. She and I co-facilitated this program on many occasions. Darlene is a well respected trainer/educator, designer of courses (both instructor led and on line) who has a strong work and is a pleasure to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to any employer.

Supporting lifelong learning activities was instrumental in my career at Revera for the seniors and employees I had the opportunity to work with. Collaboration was essential as I worked with teams to ensure quality resident programs were being delivered to meet the physical, social and mental well-being of residents with varying interests and abilities. The significance of developing others became apparent as I managed a team of recreation staff, volunteers and mentored student placements from colleges and high school co-op programs. Realizing my passion for training and development I broadened my understanding of adult learning theory by pursuing further education. In my role as staff educator I supported Long Term Care (LTC) homes in the development of an Orientation framework for newly hired employees and as well coordinated and delivered mandatory education. My progression in supporting adult learning continued into my role as a LTC Knowledge Manager. In addition to coaching and mentoring I assisted with the development, implementation and facilitation of national training programs, and educational packages. I was also responsible for planning and coordinating regional workshops, roadshows and accreditation. In my role as Learning & Development Specialist at Revera I utilized adult learning principles to conduct research to design and develop content for management training in collaboration with subject matter experts. I have proven ability in delivering training in instructor-led training forums, virtual synchronous opportunities and train-the-trainer sessions. Certified to use recognized instruments/assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment, Predictive Index assessment, and TEIQue Report provided additional learner insights into the impact of individual preferences not only personally but as well in team interactions.
