Responsible for the hiring and training of educational and support staff, manage the budget of the school, work with teachers in the implementation of the school curriculum and IEPs, as well as, work with parents and local schools to ensure that their students are receiving a productive educational experience. It is my belief that we are given a box to work within but then I need to find ways to expand that box of possibilities. Show less

Cumberland Hospital accepted children with emotional and intellectual disabilities, diabetes, brain-injuries and childhood obesity. The goal was enable the child to learn new skills to return to home or to a less restrictive environment. I supervised many departments that enabled this to happen. Through collaboration we saw improved implementation of overall programming services within the Hospital in the departments of education, recreation, behavioral, and in the rehabilitative services. Along with this increased collaboration among departments there was improved accountability and communication. Improved the curriculum within the education program while developing and gaining approval for a textbook adoption policy. Improved the training process within the departments with emphasis on person-centered values as staff work with the patients of the Hospital. Show less
