Lea Shanley, PhD

Darlene Cavalier is a visionary thinker and a community builder. She was one of the first to provide a centralized online platform for students and the public to find citizen science projects in which they may wish to participate. She also works closely with major media partners to increase the visibility of projects on a national level. Darlene is one of the founding Board members of the new Citizen Science Association, and a trusted partner of the Federal Community of Practice on Crowdsourcing and Citizen Science. Darlene moves quickly to get things done, and is full of positive energy and warmth.

I have interacted electronically with Darlene and contributed to ScienceCheerleader.com for awhile now, and it continues to be a pleasure. Her enthusiasm for science education comes through loud and clear. She boldly tilts windmills and encourages others to do likewise. A great person to have around--electronically or otherwise.
