At the beginning of the new millennium INVA spa has planned the migration of part of its development environments to the JEE platform and in the meantime launched a project to re-host the applications on the mainframe. I led the JEE development team and competence center, coordinating people inside and outside the enterprise I work in. During this period I helped to define the component model of JEE applications, set up the internal standards, defined the technologies and the work methodologies to be used to implement, test, assessing the quality, and release the projects. Part of my job consisted of proposing and discussing the viability of different technical solutions and evaluating the time needed for the realization of software projects. I set up the information infrastructure in support of the operations of the Software Factory inside the society, in particular I focused on the whole development life-cycle and release of Java applications. I helped to define the server architecture and worked on performance analysis of web applications. I structured and wrote a wiki, develop libraries, and occasionally taught people on object-oriented principles, the Java language, best coding practices, software development tools and technologies.I acted as interface between application designers, developers, and system maintenance teams.I contributed to the adoption of Ubuntu GNU/Linux as development and server operating system for our projects and to the adoption of LibreOffice to produce documents from Java web applications.
