Development of innovative strategies that allow the reversible immobilization of probes onto solid surfaces (microarray platforms and magnetic beads are good examples), in order to realize devices able to selectively capture analytes from complex mixtures and to release them, once the correct input is given.In particular these strategies will be applied to find a robust, reliable and effective way to enable extracellular vesicles separation starting from biological fluids.

Ideation and preparation of novel microarray assays.In particular I deal with polymer synthesis, polymer coating of solid supports (silicon, glass and plastic materials) and antibody modification to obtain novel probes to use in such assays.I develop synthetic routes using click chemistry and reversible reactions, in order to allow site-directed modifications and time-controlled interactions.

During my thesis period I developed a synthetic strategy to obtain caffeic acid and rosmaricin derivatives. Such compounds, bearing sulfurated moieties like dithiolthions and methanthiosulfonates, are capable of in vivo H2S releasing. Once obtained this products, we evaluated their potential activity against NFkB and STAT3, two proteins involved in cancer progression.
