During my time at Ocean Kinetics, I have worked at Sullom Voe Terminal for the majority. I have gone through my PA status, TMJI 10, 18 & 19, BA Trained, Confined Space Entry Trained and MEWP Training. I am currently looking into doing my Isolating Authority and IRATA Rope Access Training. Sullom Voe has some interesting work ahead which I am looking forward to be part of, including a new Stabalisation Area being built and decommissioning of large portions of the process area in the hope to make way for a new hydrogen plant in the future. I also had the opportunity to work at the Shetland Gas Plant for 3 moths, where I worked alongside PBS Mechanical Technicians during a large shutdown on one of the 3 Gas Turbines on site. I enjoyed this role and gained some good experience working with the PBS Technicians. when I am not working on sites around shetland, I am based in the workshop where I do some fabrication work.

I completed a 3 year Engineering Cadetship in the Merchant Navy to obtain an unlimited 3rd Class Engineer Officer of the Watch Ticket. I attended the Shetland University of the Highlands and Islands during my cadetship where I did a HNC in marine Engineering. I achieved an A grade in my Graded Unit for my HNC. I was also awarded cadet of the Year by Shetland UHI, which was sponsored by the Northern Lighthouse Board. I did a total of 10 months sea time separated between 2 sea phases. During my second sea phase where I worked onboard a Kamsarmax Bulk Carrier for 6 months, travelling worldwide. I gained valuable experience working onboard as I had to be responsible for the safety of myself and others while completing work tasks. I was taught how to maintain Engine Room Watch keeping and how to take charge of Engine Room Watches. I was shown how to prepare and operate all machinery safely and within company and legal requirements, such as the Diesel Generators, Fresh Water Generators, F.O & L.O Purifiers, Boilers, Air Conditioning Units, Refrigeration Systems, Ballast Water Systems and Bilge Separators. I was also involved in the planned and corrective Maintenance of all the systems stated above. lastly I was taught about operational management: making sure all work is planned and carried out safely, following legal requirements. Also organising work tasks effectively, so that timescales are met and effective working relationships are made.
