Production Designer for Today's Special, with Aasif Mandvi 1 recommendation David Kaplan, Director Darcy Scanlin was the production designer of my feature film "Today's Special" and I was totally thrilled with her work. I combed through many talented candidates for the job before finally selecting Darcy, largely based on her passion and the depth of her creativity on display in her portfolio. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Darcy was able to create a series of beautiful sets- a dilapidated Indian restaurant, an immaculate 4-star restaurant kitchen, an eclectic apartment filled with knick-knacks from all over the world- that elevated the aesthetic of the entire film. Everything was done on time and on budget and no detail was overlooked. What's more, Darcy and her crew were a delight to collaborate with: friendly, responsible, hard-working, resourceful, and highly skilled. I believe Darcy has a unique creative vision that's only just begun to flower. I myself look forward to working with her again at the earliest opportunity, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone else in search of an absolutely superb production designer. Show less
