I had the pleasure of working with Darcy MacCallum during his tenure as Executive Director of Erin Mills Youth Centre. I was retained as a management consultant to support EMYC in completing a comprehensive review of its mission and vision and the development of a strategic plan that would guide the organization to better position itself to serve the target community and to deepen engagement and support from funders over the next five years of its work. Darcy provided outstanding organizational leadership throughout the process. He was strongly committed to helping to focus EMYC around a very clear and focused direction. The organization was successful in coalescing around that vision and considering all situations and opportunities through that lens. The Ridgeway Community Courts and the community focused programming that came from it, led and built around residences, especially youth, was a major outcome. Darcy was well respected by funders, youth, employees, board members and within the broader community. Darcy was highly receptive to developing partnerships with other community agencies. He provided excellent leadership to his team. He demonstrated a deep commitment to the people living in the local community and to building relationships of trust and respect in order to advance community development. It was an absolute honour and pleasure to get to know Darcy and to experience his dedication and leadership throughout the consulting engagement. Darcy demonstrated creativity, courage and deep commitment to engaging the community he served with dignity, respect and a focus on empowering.

Provided strategic and generative leadership to EMYC as it developed a more comprehensive presence of focused programming in the Ridgeway community of Mississauga. Led the team in co-creating the Ridgeway Community Courts with community residents through collaborative partnerships with the City of Mississauga, Mississauga West Rotary Club and MLSE Foundation. Rebuilt the agency board of directors and guided the agency in updating its bylaws, establishing an independent standing from the United Church of Canada, initiating benefits packages for staff and building full time employment positions while increasing the agency budget by 50%. Played a key role in the launch of Erin Mills Connects, a community-based engagement across schools, agencies and community stakeholders to support youth and families in Erin Mills. Active leadership role in the Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy Group and its comprehensive 10 year strategy.
